About PGD&D

Patrick Gallagher Tessuti is a collection of woven textiles ("tessuti" in Italian) created by Patrick Gallagher, an American interior designer who now calls Rome his home. Patrick set out to create the fabrics he is always searching for in the marketplace – both in style and in coloration – in his Roman studio space nestled in a corner of a 16th Century palazzo.

These extraordinary fabrics are woven on both sides of the Atlantic – in an American mill as well as an Italian mill – using the original traditions of pattern and weave construction. Patrick Gallagher Tessuti fabrics are steeped in rich, saturated, warm (some would say Roman) colors that are expertly woven using all natural fibers of silk, linen, cotton and wool. The present collection features 16 patterns as well as trimmings crafted by hand in a small hill town outside of Rome – all of which reflect Patrick's knowledge of the interior design market as well as his love for color.

Patrick's travels are the defining inspiration for much of the collection. Fabric designs were influenced by objects found far and wide – in Istanbul, an antique grapevine suzani; in Brussels, a silk and cashmere paisley scarf; in Florence, an ancient Etruscan vessel featuring a leaf pattern; and in Santorini, a braid detail from an aged garment. Today, as Patrick continues his travels to fascinating places, he has his eyes open for the rare, one-of-a-kind textile or object that may well become the next inspiration.

The collection can presently be seen at more than 18 showrooms around the world as well as at Patrick's studio in Rome.
